Firozabad Teen Gangraped By Instagram Friend, Accomplice In Moving Car: Report

Firozabad Teen Gangraped By Instagram Friend: A 18-year old girl from Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh alleged that she was gangraped by two men, on December 19. She further claimed that she had befriended one of the accused men on Instagram. While the police complaint against the two was filed yesterday by the survivor. The police have taken the accused persons for questioning and are scanning the CCTV footage of the area where the alleged assault took place, to gather evidence.

According to the First Information Report filed by the survivor, the incident took place in a moving car in the Sikandra area of Agra, Uttar Pradesh. The police said that the girl reportedly became friends with the accused Krishna Baghel, who is 24-year-old, on the social media platform, Instagram, six months ago.

On Sunday, the accused called the survivor to meet him. After she agreed, the accused came along with his friend Hemant Kumar. The survivor alleged that the duo gangraped her after forcing her to consume beer. When she refused to consume beer, the accused allegedly hit her head against the car door and forcefully put beer in her mouth.

The survivor further alleged that the accused men had videotaped the entire incident and threatened to make it viral if she spoke about the incident to anyone. Later, the survivor narrated the incident to her younger sister and both of them went to file a complaint. The brother of the survivor alleged that she tried killing herself by consuming sleeping pills but luckily was saved.

Circle Officer of Sikandra area, Lakhan Singh, said that the police have taken both the accused in custody for further interrogation and charged them with section 376 D (gangrape) of the Indian Penal Code.

As social media makes the world a smaller place and help people connect with each other, the number of such crimes against women seems to be rising. Recently, a 21-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a 25-year-old man from Haryana who was her social media friend. The survivor made her statement in front of the magistrate on November 25.

The incident too took place in a moving car, while the survivor was returning after giving the examination for the Uttar Pradesh Police Sub Inspector Recruitment Exam in Agra. Read more about it here.
