Woman On MP Train Files FIR Against 2 Congress MLAs- Report

A woman reportedly filed sexual harassment case on Friday, against two Congress politicians travelling on an overnight train in Madhya Pradesh. Women claimed that they harassed her and used abusive language while intoxicated.

The woman, who was on the Rewa-Habibganj Rewanchal Express with her newborn, called her husband to share the abuse. According to PK Ahirwar, in charge of the general railway police (GRP), the woman's husband tweeted for assistance, and the railway police at Sagar boarded the train and assisted the woman.

Ahirwar asserted that the Jabalpur control room informed them of the harassment. He stated," An assistant sub-inspector and constable boarded the train and changed the seat of the woman. They recorded her statement and lodged an FIR."

A first information report (FIR) was filed against Sidharth Kushwaha of Satna and Suneel Saraf of Kotma under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with using force or an assault to violate a woman's modesty.

When Sidharth Kushwaha was asked about the FIR, he stated that the allegation was baseless. He said," The woman was travelling with a baby so I offered my seat to her, and very politely. Suneel Ji offered her food as a courtesy. I don’t know why she felt offended and filed a complaint."

According to the woman's husband when they complained, the two weren't aware that they were members of Congress, but "thankfully the police took immediate action and helped my wife."

The woman complained that she was taking the H-1 (AC first class) coach with her seven-month-old son from Rewa to Bhopal. She stated that two men, Siddharth Kushwaha and Suneel Saraf, were eating dinner in front of her seat at about 11.50 p.m. They were verbally abusive all the time. One of them offered her food and touched her shoulder. As they were drunk, she kept quiet. However, they touched her once again, and they continued to touch her and curse at her despite her requests for them to stop.
