Santosh Gupta wife daughter die by suicide: Bollywood filmmaker Santosh Gupta's 55-year-old wife Asmita Gupta, and daughter Srishti Gupta, allegedly died by suicide at their home in suburban Andheri's DN Nagar, on Wednesday. They reportedly set themselves on fire, a police officer said.
According to PTI, the mother and daughter were rushed to Cooper Hospital in Mumbai and Gupta's wife was declared dead on arrival. His daughter, who suffered 70 percent burns, succumbed to her injuries at Airoli National Burns Centre, the official said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Asmita took the drastic step as she was suffering from a prolonged kidney illness. Srishti was also struggling to cope with her mother's illness.
According to reports, Asmita and her daughter set themselves on fire on Monday afternoon in their apartment and their neighbours called the fire brigades. A senior inspector also revealed that two separate accidental death cases have been registered and further investigation is underway.
The deceased's husband, Santosh Gupta is known for directing small budgets films like Faraar, Romi the hero and Aaj kie Aurat.
