Women and men born between 1980 and 2000, who are working in the corporate world don’t face any gender discrimination. This came to light in a survey done by Talentedge, a Delhi-based Ed-Tech firm. The survey revealed that women in this age group do not feel that they are discriminated on the basis of gender in getting equal opportunities as men.
Workplaces need to ensure gender equality to promote women in the workforce and encourage them to move out and understand their worth and what women can contribute in the corporate field.
Metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai and four tier-II cities including Jaipur, Pune, Ahmedabad and Chandigarh were chosen for the survey. It was conducted through social media and one-on-one calling.
The survey suggested that more than 90% of working women have not faced any gender bias in getting equal opportunities while 60% women, who are 29 and above, claim to have faced gender discrimination at work in the course of their careers.
The findings led to the conclusion that this is the reason why female millennials are more optimistic at work as compared to their seniors.

“Achieving gender equality is important for workplaces not only because it is ‘fair’ and ‘the right thing to do’, but because it is also linked to a country’s overall economic performance,” Aditya Malik, CEO and MD, Talentedge said in a statement on Friday, reported The Indian Express.
The survey brought about a significant point across that modern women do not feel that motherhood and marriage will be a deterrent in their careers and that they will continue no matter what. However, that is not the case with older women who feel that these factors affect their careers.
This is also because it is now that families are more considerate towards women going out to work and allowing them the freedom to choose their lifestyle. They also support women in managing family, while this wasn’t the case until a few decades ago when women were forced to take care of the family alone if they wanted to still continue with their jobs.
“These findings show that as a country, we are moving in a right direction as our youth, especially women, are striding forward positively,” Malik added.
The survey also shows that younger working women found film producer and TV serial maker Ekta Kapoor as their favourite Business Icon while women over 29 chose Chanda Kochhar, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ICICI Bank.
