Nikita Tomar Murder Case: Faridabad district court on Friday gave its verdict on Nikita Tomar murder case which took place in 2020 and gave life imprisonment to the two persons convicted in the case.
After the judgement was passed, the Home Minister of Haryana said that they are studying the judgement and will appeal for the death penalty to be given to the convicts. The court on March 24 had convicted Tausif, who was the prime accused and his friend Rehan. The third accused named Azruddin, who had allegedly supplied weapons for the murder, was acquitted by the court. The court is going to pronounce sentences for the convicted persons on Friday. According to reports, the case was fast-tracked by the court.

According to a report by the Hindu, the judgement was given by Judge Sartaj Baswana. The defence counsel P.L Goyal reportedly said that a total number of 60 witnesses were presented before the court out of which two were from the defence side. The majority of the arguments were concluded on Monday in a four-hour-long hearing and another 30 minutes on Tuesday.
The prosecution reportedly presented Nikita Tomar's friend as one of the witnesses who had been with her at the time of the murder. The CCTV footage of the incident was also presented in front of the court. It was also reported the fingerprints of the convicts matched three samples, the murder weapon, the girl's arms and the car in which the victim was abducted.
Nikita Tomar was killed in October 2020
A 20-year-old girl named Nikita Tomar was shot dead on October 26, 2020, in Faridabad. The convicted persons Tausif and Rehan tried to abduct Tomar and when she resisted, Tausif pulled out his pistol and shot her. The incident had received widespread attention on social media as someone had recorded the incident and circulated on the internet. The first proceeding of the murder trial took place in December 1, 2020, and the judgement was delivered after four months on March 24, 2021.
