The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards was a star-studded evening just like every year. Colin Jost and Michael Che of Saturday Night Live hosted the ceremony. There were some awe-inspiring moments as well that made some important statements. Here's a rundown of some of them.
Opening song about diversity
This year's nominees for Emmys, however, were more diverse than ever, with shows like Atlanta, Insecure, and The Handmaid's Tale adding up multiple categories. Sandra Oh became the first Asian woman to be nominated for a lead actress award for Killing Eve.

Jenifer Lewis wore Nike in support of Colin Kaepernick
Black-ish actor Jenifer Lewis, very significantly, made a statement on the red carpet. She wore Nike in support of its latest campaign. This look came after Nike faced backlash for featuring quarterback Colin Kaepernick as the company’s new face. “I am wearing Nike to applaud them for supporting Colin Kaepernick and his protest against racial injustice and police brutality,” she told Variety. “What can I do that’s meaningful? I’ll wear Nike,” she said on the red carpet. “I’ll wear Nike to say thank you. Thank you for leading the resistance! We need more corporate America to stand up also.”
Kaepernick was the first NFL player to kneel during the national anthem as a protest against racism. Nike chose him as one of the faces for advertisements to commemorate the 30th anniversary of its “Just Do It” slogan on September 3.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel bagged maximum awards at the ceremony. The night started off with some amazing wins for women in television and comedy. While Rachel Brosnahan won in the lead actress category, Amy Sherman-Palladino became the first woman to win for both writing and directing in the same season.
The Queer Eye guys announcing an award
One thing that cannot be denied is that the Emmys never looked so bright until the Queer Eye fab five, Jonathan Van Ness, Karamo Brown, Tan France, Antoni Porowski, and Bobby Berk, walked the red carpet and then took to the stage. Earlier, their hit Netflix show won three Emmys at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards show.

Hannah Gadsby
Hannah Gadsby, who hit all the right chords with her electrifying Netflix special Nanette, had her Emmys moment as well. She presented the Emmy for Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series to Stephen Daldry for The Crown. It was refreshing to hear Gadsby.
