Couple Murders 72-Year-Old Neighbour: On July 13 a couple was arrested from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly murdering a senior citizen. They are accused of killing their neighbour, chopping up her body into three segments and dumping it in a drain of Najafgarh.
The old lady was asking the couple to return Rs 1 lakh they had borrowed from her, the police said.
As per a report, the DCP Santosh Kumar Meena from Dwarka District said that the couple, 40-year-old Anil Arya (40) and his 35-year-old wife Tannu Arya were arrested.
The police also mentioned that the lady who was murdered has been identified as Kavita Grover, who stayed in Delhi's Mohan Garden with her son, Manish Grover, and daughter-in-law. The lady's son is a property dealer and his wife is a doctor.
Manish approached the police on July 3 to file a missing complaint of Kavita Grover as they mentioned that he and his wife went to visit his native village, the seventy-two-year-old was at home but she was nowhere to be found when they returned home.
In the meantime, the police began with the search of the 72-year-old and while cross-examining the locality found that Grover's neighbours have also been missing. Manish admitted that he's suspecting his neighbour's involvement in the abduction. Post Grover's statement the police started looking for the couple.
Police arrested the couple as they traced them through technical surveillance. The couple allegedly confessed that when the lady asked the couple to repay her money, they told her that Rs 1 lakh was the reward for looking after her brother, which led to an argument between them and the couple allegedly choked her using a water pipe, stored the body parts in trolley bags after chopping it into three parts and boarded an auto-rickshaw to dump the bags in a drain of Najafgrah. Afterwards, the couple eloped the city and shifted to Bareilly at their friend’s flat, according to police.
