The incident occurred on October 8 around 8 p.m. in Bahadurpur village under the Balrai police station area. The deceased minor girls have been identified as Surabhi, 6 and Roshni, 4. A police officer said that the mutilated bodies were found in separate rooms at their home. The girls who were alone at home during the incident were killed with their throats slit.
Elder Sister Murders Two Minor Girls
Kanpur range Inspector General of Police (IG) Prashant Kumar said that the minor girls were the daughters of Jaiveer Singh. They were murdered by their elder sister, Anjali Pal, who confessed to the crime. She admitted to killing her younger sisters after they saw her in an objectionable position.
The police have registered cases under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (concealing evidence or giving false information) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjay Varma stated that the police are looking into the involvement of the three men in the case.
The police recovered the murder weapon, a spade from the accused’s house, and the clothes worn by the accused on the day of the crime. The police said that the forensic team discovered blood stains on the spade and the dress, which were washed ostensibly to get rid of the evidence.
Jaiveer and his wife Sushila, along with their two sons, Nand Kishore, 12, and Kanhaiya, 8, were not present at home when the crime was committed.
Initially, the accused alleged that she saw her sisters’ bodies lying in a pool of blood in one room and their heads in another room upon returning home. She reportedly gave contradictory explanations while narrating the happenings of the day when questioned by the police. This led to her being detained by the police for further investigation.
A senior police officer said that the accused admitted to committing the crime and was taken into custody on the afternoon of October 9. She told the police that she returned to the fields after committing the murder, where her father and brothers were working.
The murder weapon, the spade, belonged to Jaiveer Pal, who told the police that he had used it in the morning and that it appeared to have been cleaned. The police also found that some clothes were left outside to dry.
The accused was also sent for a medical examination, and the police officials said that further investigation is underway.
