Asha Devi, Nirbhaya's mother, on Wednesday said that she will fight for justice "to all rape victims" as a tribute to her daughter, who was gangraped on this day in 2012. "It has been 8 years today since the heinous crime against my daughter was committed," Devi said in an interaction with ANI.
Nine months ago, the four death row convicts in Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case were hanged at Tihar Jail on March 20. "Our case was clear and still it took 8 yrs to get justice. The govt and courts need to think about why it took so long, and make changes to the laws," said Asha Devi in a recent interaction with ANI.

On May 5, 2017, the four perpetrators in Nirbhaya case were finally awarded the death penalty. The 23-year-old paramedical student was gangraped in a moving bus by six people including a juvenile in the national capital. Later, she was abandoned on a Delhi road. The woman had died at a Singapore hospital a few days later while undergoing treatment for injuries that she incurred due to brutal sexual assault.

"Justice has been delivered to my daughter. But it does not mean that I will sit in silence. I will continue to fight for justice for all rape victims. Like this I will pay tribute to my daughter, Everyone together needs to raise their voice against rape," said Devi while remembering her daughter.
Recently, Netflix's original series Delhi Crime, based on Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case, helmed by Indian-Canadian director Richie Mehta, bagged the Best Drama Series honour at the 48th International Emmy Awards.
