ED Summons Yami Gautam: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned actor Yami Gautam for interrogation in an alleged violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
Gautam came back to Mumbai recently after her wedding with Uri director Aditya Dhar in Himachal Pradesh.

- The alleged money laundering case against Gautam is being investigated by Zone 2 of ED. The Zone 2 of the Directorate of Enforcement is a specialised financial investigation agency that falls under the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, under the Government of India.
- This is reportedly the second time that the Uri actor has been summoned by the ED. Yami Gautam was summoned in 2020 for the first time against an alleged violation of FEMA.
- Yami Gautam failed to show up at the ED office after she was summoned the first time because of lockdown restrictions due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
- The news was first shared by the news agency ANI stating that the Mumbai ED has asked Gautam to appear before them next week to “record her statement in connection with alleged irregularities under FEMA.”
- The main objective of FEMA is to facilitate external trade and payments. Additionally, FEMA was also devised to assist the orderly development and protection of the Indian Forex Market.
- Yami is set to appear before the ED on July 7, five days after the official statement was released on ANI.
- The agency has reportedly unearthed foreign exchange transactions in the actor’s personal bank accounts.
- A senior ED official was reported that the federal agency summoned the actor in lieu of a foreign exchange transaction worth Rs 1.5 Crores in her private bank account, which was not disclosed by Gautam.
