For the psychosocial wellness of the students of class 9-12, CBSE has launched an app called 'Dost For Life' on May 7, which is now available on Google Play Store.
CBSE which was using the existing practice of phone call counselling with the use of toll-free numbers across the country has now abandoned it. Moving to phone applications, the board has designed the facility to provide ease of access and convenience in the safe environment of home for parents and children.
How to get the 'Dost For Life' app?
'Dost For Life' is available to be downloaded for Android devices. The app has been launched on the Google Play Store. The app is designed to cater to the students of the CBSE-affiliated schools across the globe not just restricted to the Indian subcontinent. The board has ensured that the app would be available for other phone users like iPhone soon.
What is the Live Counselling feature of 'Dost For Life' app?
The app would have the features like Live counselling, chatbox etc. The Live counselling sessions would be held three days a week -Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Out of the 83 volunteers, 66 are from India. The others are from the countries of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Nepal, Oman, Kuwait, Japan and the USA.
The app is launched for the psychosocial well-being of students at different developmental stages. And hence the live counselling would be free of cost and conducted by trained counsellors/principals. The students and parents can choose any of the two slots – 9:30 am to 1:30 pm or 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm and connect through a chatbox.
CBSE has also brought about a manual that discusses the interplay of school, family and community for the psychosocial well-being of students at different developmental stages. It is currently available for download at the official website of CBSE.
