Dog Travels Business Class: A Maltese dog named Bela made news on Monday as she travelled in business class from Mumbai to Chennai in Air India flight. Her person reportedly paid more Rs 2.5 Lakhs to book the entire business class for Bela so that she can travel comfortably.
As per a report by ANI a business class ticket for flight from Mumbai to Chennai costs about twenty thousand rupees. Air India is the only airline which allows for pets to accompany their persons during journey. The airline reportedly allows only two pets at the most for domestic travels. The woman who booked the business class for her pet flew by Air India Flight AI671.
Considering the peculiarity of the news, it caught the attention of many social media users. The dog, Bela, became the topic of discussion. While many found it a heart warming story of a pet being treated just the she deserved, others debated on the privilege of the pet owner. Some netizens also expressed envy towards the dog.
Don't know how to react to this. With Rs. 2.5L many children could be fed or sent to school. No saying not to love your pet, the dog could be sent in a private car and would have costed only 10% of this. https://t.co/d6gh5KVcrH

Another user said that the resources used by the pet could have served a better purpose such as feeding five to seven families.
No doubt it’s out of love but I feel those resources could have been into much better use. Perhaps monthly food for 5-7 families @IndiaToday

Air India reportedly ferried over 2,000 pets on its domestic flights between June and September this year. The pets are allowed only in the cabin area of the airline. The vaccination requirements of the pets are also considered before allowing them on board. In other cases, pets are usually places in the cargo area or the cabin space but when in business class, the pets are seated at the last row, as per reports.
