This was in response to a notice from the Election Commission. He also wrote a letter saying that his comments were blown out of proportion by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leaders.

“I request the Commission to get a copy and consider the full text of my entire speech and I am hopeful if it is done it can be discerned that the allegations made now are taken out of context and blown out of proportion to have political mileage," he wrote to the EC.

A Raja said that he had never given a speech that was meant to insult women. He said that he had used a simile to respond to Palaniswami's comment on MK Stalin.

"In Tamil oratory, a simile is a well-accepted norm. In my speech, the evolution of the political heights and their means of MK Stalin and Edappadi Palanisami were compared by me through a simile as newborn babies for the easy understanding of the common mass," A Raja said.

Earlier, the leaders from the AIADMK had complained to the EC alleging that A Raja had insulted the Palaniswami during an election campaign at Thousand Lights assembly constituency. A notice was then sent to Raja which said that a case under the Indian Penal Code and the Representation of the People Act, 1951 had been registered by the Crime Branch. However, Raja was given the opportunity to explain himself before 6 pm on 31st March.

Raja had allegedly said that Palaniswami is a "child of bad relationship and a premature born child."

PM Modi Slams A Raja

A day before, PM Modi had addressed the people of Tamil Nadu, and slammed A Raja for his remarks by calling him an 'outdated 2G missile'. “A few days back, this missile was launched by UPA with a clear order to attack the nari shakti of Tamil Nadu," he said.
