Veteran DJ and radio presenter Tim Westwood has rejected all the allegations of sexual misconduct and predatory behaviour that multiple women have levelled against him. Major publications The Guardian and the BBC are jointly investigating the case against the DJ.
Westwood, now 64, was accused of misusing his position in the music industry and having taken advantage of seven women who were in their late teens or early 20s at the time. Meanwhile, three women accused him of opportunistic and predatory sexual behaviour, and four others alleged that they were groped by him at events, stated reports.
The DJ’s representative in a statement said, “Westwood strongly denies all allegations of inappropriate behaviour. In a career that has spanned 40 years, there have never been any complaints made against him officially or unofficially. Tim Westwood strongly rejects all allegations of wrongdoing.”
His lawyers told the media that “he was a well-respected and highly successful DJ”. “Any suggestion that he acts, or has acted, in the way described would be false and seriously defamatory,” his representatives were quoted saying. They added that he wanted to make clear that he did not behave in the manner described.
DJ Tim Westwood Accused Of Sexual Misconduct
Reports suggest that the earliest alleged incident took place in 1992 and the most recent in 2017. The seven women, who are all of the African descent, recounted the incidents after BBC Three released a documentary on the issue. The seven women made separate allegations about Westwood’s conduct.

Reportedly, the women came forth and shared their stories in the aftermath of anonymous allegations of inappropriate behaviour about the DJ circulating on social media in June 2020.
Some of the women said that they felt unable to talk about their experiences fearing that the accounts would not be taken seriously because they were so young at the time the alleged incidents happened. They also told that racial discrimination would have led people to minimise, dismiss or ignore their claims.
Three of the seven women have accused Westwood of indulging in sexually predatory behaviour when they agreed to meet him thinking they would discuss music and can display their work to the DJ. The three women told the publications, they were respectively 17, 19 and 20 when the alleged incidents happened.
Meanwhile, the rest four women claimed that they were groped by Westwood when they were getting a picture taken with him after one of his nightclub performances.
Westwood, has reportedly, been caught in multiple controversies in his career spanning 40 years. The DJ, who is the well-known name in hip hop, rap and a key figure in black music in the UK has been maintaining a repertoire of being a “bad-boy and having provocative on-mic banter which can be sexually explicit” as well.
