Former MP Divya Spandana Alleges Congress Leaders Have Been Asked To Troll Her

Divya Spandana, former Member of Parliament and former social media head of the Congress party tweeted on Thursday that members of the Congress party have asked to troll her.

In a tweet, she alleged, "So the ‘office’ has circulated these messages among the (sic) congress leaders & volunteers asking them troll me. Save yourself the trouble- I’ll do it myself.” Spandana tagged the Karnataka Congress head DK Shivakumar and party worker Srivatsa. Some media reports have claimed that Spandana duped Congress of right crore rupees before quitting. The former Lok Sabha has denied the allegations and has asked the party to clear her name in media.

Divya Spandana is also a well-known actor in Kannada and Tamil film industry. She is better known by her moniker Ramya. Her name became popular in 2017 when she took over as the social media head of the Congress party. Reportedly, the number of followers of Congress party chief Rahul Gandhi increased on Twitter under Spandana's tenure.

The actor then had to quit her role as the social media head in 2019 after she tweeted a congratulating tweet for Nirmala Sitharaman, the Finance Minister of India and member of Bharatiya Janta Party. Commenting on an a controversy involving the Congress party, Spandana had tweeted, "People across parties meet each other, go to functions, some even get married into families - I’m surprised @DKShivakumar would say this about @MBPatil who’s a staunch congressman. Shouldn’t the party be fighting elections as one unit? @INCIndia.”

Spandana also shared a few screenshots which had text in Kannada language. Roughly translated to English, the text read, "You may pls open above tweet link and reply suitably in comments to respond her using any of the following texts."

One of the responses on the same were, "You've been absconding for years now you want talk about politics again!!! Your social media handles should be banned. Oh people assumed that you deleted your account this is extremely surprising, for you to come up like this I don't think you should be talking about Congress leader or party for that matter." Spandana noted that negative tweets about her had similar wordings. She also called out the tweet by BR Naidu, the chairperson of Congress' social media and wrote, "good copy paste job".

Another stated, "Where have you been all these years??? Why are you waking up now? Can you please let the voters of Mandya know?? You got into the party because of senior leaders in the party. You have no loyalty to the party or voters. Can you go back to the absconding state that you were in or just delete your accounts. I'm sure you have enough experience in this."

In a recent tweet, Spandana has written, "Spandana also reacted to one of the responses allegedly sent in by the Congress office by tweeting: “If there’s anyone who gave me opportunities and stood by me it’s @RahulGandhi. Anyone else claiming to have ‘given’ me opportunities is an opportunist. These opportunists have only backstabbed and tried to suppress me. Everything you see on TV is a farce to conceal their devious mind."
