Disney Plus to launch in India with Lion King Premiere

Disney Plus is launching its video streaming service in India through Hotstar and their launch will have celebrities joining in 'virtually.' They will launch with the Lion King premiere. With people across the country practising social distancing by staying at home, Disney+ Hotstar are organising a virtual red carpet event for The Lion King premiere on their app. It will see celebrities such as Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif and others participating in the event.

People will be premiere of The Lion King in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu along with their favorite celebrities.

There is a long list of celebrities coming for this online. Other than Hrithik and Katrina, the actors who are a part of the virtual watch party are Tiger Shroff, Sonam Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Shahid Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Rana Duggabatti, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet and Dulquer Salmaan.

Users will be able to interact on the social feed on the platform during the premiere. They can chat with their friends and family, share photos and badges with them and the rest of India, and also interact with some of their favourite celebrities attending the red carpet premiere event with them from the safety of their homes.

With the country in a lockdown, this is perhaps the right time for platforms to launch their new digital offerings. Most people are home and watching a great deal of OTT platforms.
