Disha Ravi police custody: The 22-year-old activist from Bengaluru has been sent to a fresh one-day custody in Delhi after the order for her previous three-day custody expired Monday. The court turned down the police's request seeking an extension of five days' custody for the climate change activist in connection to the 'toolkit' case.
Last week, Ravi in court had argued that difference of opinion was not sedition and she was merely supporting the farmers' protest. The judge had called police arguments "conjecture" and reserved judgment on her bail plea till Tuesday.
Ravi has been accused of “sedition” and “conspiracy” against the state. Authorities have named her, along with activists Nikita Jacob and Shantanu Muluk, in the editing and circulation of the ‘toolkit’ document, which is at the centre of the police probe into the Republic Day violence.
Disha Ravi Police Custody Increased By A Day
Appealing to the court for a five-day custody for Ravi, the prosecutor told Magistrate Pankaj Sharma, "In her interrogation, she has shifted the burden to other accused. I have to confront her with other accused. They came to Delhi today morning."
Jacob and Muluk had reportedly been granted transit anticipatory bail by the Bombay High Court.
"We have seven more days. There are two more accused in the matter. Nikita's transit bail ends in three weeks. Shantanu's in ten days," the prosecutor added in a bid to keep Ravi in custody.
Ravi's role is also being questioned in attending a Zoom meeting with Mo Dhaliwal, co-founder of Canada-based Poetic Justice Foundation (PJF) and an identified pro-Khalistani figure.
