The Indian women archers trio - Laxmirani Majhi, Bombayla Laishram, Deepika Kumari are out of the Rio competition with a 4-5 loss to world champions Russia in the quarterfinals of the women's recurve competition at the Olympic archery stadium on Sunday. The silver medalist in the 2015 World Championships, Indian women's archery team had a rough competition. Deepika Kumari needed to hit a bulls eye 10 to beat the Russian total score of 25. But she barely had any time left and could only shoot an 8.
A dismal show as the Indian team finished a dejecting seventh in the qualification round. The World Championships last year - the Russians will now face off Italy in the semi-finals.

Reacting to their loss, Bombayla Devi said "when a gust of wind comes, you have to go ahead and shoot, you cannot wait or you may do much worse," , reported by Economic Times. A disappointed Deepika Kumari had this to say "You should come and see at the spot. We want to hit a ten every time."
The Indians had defeated the Columbian team 5-3 in the pre-quarter-finals earlier. The archers will now compete in individual events- Laxmirani on August 8, Bombayla on August 10 and Deepika on August 11.
