The defending champions Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal Karthik settled for silver as they lost the final in Women's Double Squash at CWG, 2018. New Zealanders, Joelle King and Amanda Landers-Murphy clinched Gold medal beating the Indian duo 2-0. They scored 11-9 and 11-8 to get past the victory line.
The New Zealanders managed to take control of the game from the first set. They put pressure on the opponents after winning the first set which made it easier for them to win the second. India had earlier won the Silver in Mixed Doubles of Squash on Saturday.

Defending Champions
The Indian duo had created history at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2014 where they won the Gold in the same category. Joshna and Dipika couldn't match the energy of their opponents in the clash on Sunday. The silver this year is still reflective of India's presence in Squash.
"After comfortably pocketing the opening game, the New Zealanders continued to dominate in the second as the Indian pair struggled to get back and eventually finish on the losing side", Business Standard reported.
In the semi-finals that took place on Saturday, Dipika and Joshna had outplayed England's Laura Massaro and Sarah-Jane Perry in straight games 2-0 (11-10, 11-5).

Dipika (26) on Saturday also won a silver in the mixed doubles with partner Saurav Ghosal. Though, they had put up a brave fight against the Australians Donna Urquhart and Cameron Pilley. However, they finally outwitted them to clinch a gold. This was Joshua's first medal at the Gold Coast games.
Overall Tally
The updated tally puts India to a total of 65 medals including 26 golds. Silver and Bronze count remains at 19 and 20 respectively. We are currently positioned third on the tally, below Australia and England. Additionally, Indian women have been playing extremely well this season and winning back to back medals.
