On Wednesday, pugilist Usha Nagisetty was felicitated by Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair, Chetan Kumar Srivastava. She was recently nominated for the Dhyan Chand Awards. Nagisetty is an Indian boxer from Visakhapatnam. Usha Nagisetty was among the 15 names recommended for the prestigious awards by the National Sports Committee.

Nagisetty Achievements
The 2008 Asian Boxing gold medalist had a record of the six-time senior national champion between 2004 and 2010. The 36-year-old boxer has 11 international medals and 12 national medals to her credit. Nagisetty bagged 13 gold, 5 silver, and 5 bronze medals at the National and International level.
She presently works at Diesel Loco Shed, Visakhapatnam, Waltair, East Coast Railways (ECoR). Nagisetty also trains young talents as the coach of Indian Railways Women's boxing team.

Speaking on the occasion of Usha Nagisetty's felicitation, DRM said that Visakhapatnam has immense sports talent. He further added that the Waltair Railway sports complex is turning to be the hub of various sports. Srivastava said that the Railways always encourages sportspersons in every possible way and brings out the inherent talent to groom their career.
Dhyan Chand Awards is named after the legendary Indian Hockey player Dhyan Chand. It is presented by the Government of India as a lifetime achievement sporting honour. The award is presented every year on August 29. Indian footballer Sukhwinder Singh is also a nomination for the Dhyan Chand Awards.
On Monday, the National Sports Awards Selection Committee released 15 nominations for the Dhyan Chand Awards. Last month, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports had constituted a selection committee for selecting awardees for Dronacharya Awards, Dhyan Chand Awards, Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna for the year 2020.
The Members include eminent names from the field of Indian Sports including Virender Sehwag (Cricket), Sardar Singh (Hockey), Monalisa Baruah Mehta (Table Tennis), Deepa Malik (Para-athletics), Venkatesan Devarajan (Boxing) as well as well-known media persons including Sports Commentator Manish Batavia and Sports Journalists Alok Sinha and Neeru Bhatia," the Sports Ministry's release had read.
Officials from the Sports Ministry in the committee included Director General, SAI, Sandip Pradhan, LS Singh, Joint Secretary (Sports Development), and Commander Rajesh Rajagopalan, CEO Target Olympic Podium Scheme. Retired Justice of Supreme Court Justice Mukundakam Sharma is the Chairperson of the committee.
