The iconic fashion designer Vivienne Westwood said her final goodbye on 29th December, Thursday at the age of 81. She was surrounded by her family, in Clapham, South London, said her fashion house said on Instagram.

The post on Instagram read, "Vivienne continued to do the things she loved, up until the last moment, designing, working on her art, writing her book, and changing the world for the better. She led an amazing life. Her innovation and impact over the last 60 years have been immense and will continue into the future."Westwood's spouse and creative partner Andreas Kronthaler said they, "have been working until the end and she has given me plenty of things to get on with."
Who Was Vivienne Westwood?
- Vivienne Westwood was a British fashion designer and businesswoman responsible for bringing new-wave fashions into the mainstream.
- She was known as the Queen of punk fashion. She started her career in the 1970s and rose to prominence with her punk-inspired designs.
- Vivienne Westwood was a rebellious spirited designer, she experimented and innovated. One of her most remembered works is a 1995 fashion show in which she sent a bare-breasted Kate Moss down the runway munching on ice cream.
- Westwood first made clothes for the boutique SEX that she and Malcolm McLaren ran on King's Road, London.
- Westwood's first fashion collection was Pirate. Westwood's designs could be seen in the 2008 film adaptation of the television series Sex and the City.
- With clothes, she was also an unapologetically political designer. Climate change, pollution, and her support for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange were all fodder for protest T-shirts carried by her models on the runway. Westwood once told L'Officiel fashion magazine in 2018 that she always used fashion to challenge the status quo.
- Westwood was born in the village of Tintwistle, Derbyshire on 8 April 1941 to father Gordon Swire, a storekeeper in an aircraft factory, and mother Dora Swire. She was born as Vivienne Isabel Swire but kept the name of her first spouse, Derek Westwood. She studied at the University of Westismeter and became a primary school teacher, but her passion for creating something encourage her to dream big.
- Westwood was currently married to her second spouse, Andreas Kronthaler. She had two sons Ben Westwood and Joe Corre. She had her first son Ben Westwood, now a fashion photographer with Derek Westwood. The second is Joe Corre with Malcolm McLaren. Corre co-founded the upscale Agent Provocateur lingerie line.
