Teams of the Indian Air Force, Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) carried out the rescue operation during the Deoghar ropeway accident and have successfully rescued as many as 40 people stuck inside the cable cars since Sunday.
As per Jharkhand tourism, the Trikut ropeway is India's highest vertical ropeway with a height of about 766 meters. The ropeway is located between a densely forested area surrounded by hills, leading to limited access only through the air. This is also why the rescue operation had to be paused on Sunday evening. People who were trapped on board the cable cars since Sunday afternoon were provided food and water supply through drones.
According to reports, the Jharkhand High Court has taken suo motu cognizance (action taken without any request by the parties involved) for the Deoghar ropeway accident and has also ordered an inquiry to look into the matter. The court has dated the hearing on the matter as April, 26.
Out of the 48 trapped tourists, 35 were already rescued until Monday night.
