Moradabad: Post Graduate Dental Student Found Dead In Hostel Room

Dental student found dead: A second-year Master of Dental Surgery student from Moradabad was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her room in October 18, Monday. While an investigation is currently underway in the case, the police suspects it to be a case of suicide, based on initial findings.

The deceased,  Vaishali Chaudhari, was a 25-year-old was a resident of Hapur. According to the Moradabad police, the incident was reported to the police by the university officials. The police are now interrogating the roommates of the deceased and university officials. The deceased woman's family has also been informed about the incident.

The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem examination to verify the reason for death. Chaudhari shared her hostel room with two other fellow students. Her roommates had gone to attend the class when the incident took place

According to the police, a roommate of Chaudhari found her body and reported it to university officials.

Circle Officer (CO) Indu Sidhartha said the death appears to be a case of suicide but the actual cause of death will be only known after the autopsy report comes in. According to Sidhartha, the roommates' are getting interrogated to understand if the deceased took step to end her life because of any mental stress. The case is currently being investigated from all angles.

This is not the first such case at the Teerthanker Mahaveer University, from where Chaudhari was pursuing her MDS. In 2016, a first-year student of dental surgery has allegedly died by suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan. The student hailed from Dalkhola in West Bengal. In that case, a suicide note was found by the police but it was not in readable condition.

A similar death took place on July 6, 2013, too, when Neeraj Bhadana, a first-year MBBS student from Faridabad, was also found dead on the campus. A CBI inquiry was ordered and it has still not come to a conclusion. She had died after suffering a fall from the hostel balcony. In 2021, the investigative agency filed for the case's closure but it was rejected by the special court.
