Ace shuttler PV Sindhu on Wednesday cruised into the second round at Denmark Open in Odense. Back in court after her historic Rio Olympics triumph, the sixth seed defeated the 11th ranked Chinese He Bingjiao with a straight score of 21-14, 21-19 in 37 minutes.

In the second round, Sindhu will face the 12th ranked Sayaka Sato of Japan for a place in the quarters.

Also, the 2015 runner-up of the Denmark Open in the last edition, Sindhu has had her fourth encounter with Bingjiao this time as the Indian had lost twice to the Chinese with the only victory coming in the Malaysia Open in April.

The fourth Indian to win a silver and the fifth woman player from India to win a medal in Olympics and the first to clinch a silver, the 21-year-old shuttler’s comeback after Rio was the talk of the town for the past few days. Now all eyes will be on Sindhu as her past performance has raised the bar.
