Eve-teasing is a serious offence that has become common in our society. However, it is not always that saying something or touching is required to make women uncomfortable. Staring and gawking is a type of offence that goes unnoticed and it's hard to confront people about it. In public and crowded places, these stares follow women everywhere which makes it uncomfortable. A similar incident happened in New Delhi when a delivery boy was accused of staring at a woman in the market.

Delivery Boy Slapped For Staring At Woman

The incident happened on Saturday, October 22 when a 23-years-old delivery boy named Nadeem arrived at Delhi's Khan Market to pick up a food delivery from a restaurant there. He was waiting for the food to be packed outside when a couple passed by him and the woman allegedly accused him of staring at her. She went to the nearby police station and the police officers arrived and slapped Nadeem. The matter seemed to have been resolved there and no written case was registered.

However, the next day, on Sunday, Nadeem returned to Khan Market and put his bike on fire in the middle of the busy market area. The flames started reaching the nearby furniture shop when the fire engines and police arrived to control the fire. When the police tried to capture the delivery boy, he threw stones at them to avoid them. They were successful in capturing him. While they were taking him away, he was allegedly heard shouting insults.

There are a few things that we should consider about this incident. If the woman was right then the delivery boy needed to be punished. Though, instead of slapping, the police could have handled it better. However, if the woman misinterpreted the situation and the delivery boy was actually innocent, then though his being upset is valid but creating a scene in a busy market and putting the life of the common public in danger is wrong.
