In an unfortunate incident, a 34-year-old woman died at the New Delhi railway station after getting electrocuted amid waterlogging due to incessant rains in the national capital since Saturday night.
Sakshi Ahuja (34), a resident of Preet Vihar in East Delhi, reached the railway station around 5:30 in the morning along with two women and three children. According to reports, she held onto an electric pole to avoid puddles when she suffered a massive jolt of power as a result of which she was electrocuted.
Sakshi is survived by her husband, 10-year-old son and six-year-old daughter.
An inquiry revealed that a few wires of an electric pole were lying exposed at the spot. The incident took place near exit gate number 1 of the station.
Ahuja was a teacher at Lovely Public School, Priyadarshani Vihar, Laxmi Nagar. Onlookers immediately took her to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared her dead on arrival.
"Immediately, they along with injured Sakshi Ahuja's sister Madhvi Chopra, took her to LHMC (Lady Hardinge Medical College) hospital where the doctor declared her brought dead," the police said.

The victim's sister, Madhvi Chopra, then filed a complaint alleging negligence by concerned authorities, based on which a case was filed, they added.
Sakshi Ahuja's father Lokesh Kumar Chopra, too, blamed the concerned authority for negligence.
"We were going to Chandigarh. I was in the parking area when I received the information that my daughter Sakshi Ahuja has died due to electrocution. This has happened due to the negligence of the concerned authority," he told news agency Asian News International.
A case has been registered against unidentified persons under sections 287 (negligent conduct with respect to machinery) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.
