A video and a photo of a couple travelling on a bike went viral on social media after a Twitter user named BunTea shared them on the microblogging platform. The clip shows a man riding a bike while a woman is sitting in front of him and hugging him.
The man is wearing a helmet, but the woman isn’t. The caption of the post revealed that the incident happened on Delhi’s outer Ring Road flyover near Mangolpuri on June 16, Sunday, at 7.15 pm.
Delhi Traffic Police Reacts To PDA On Bike
The post was shared a couple of days ago, and since then, it has amassed over a million views. Many netizens commented on the post, calling out the incident. The Delhi traffic police also responded to the viral video.
The Delhi traffic police thanked the user for reporting the incident. They requested that people report such traffic violations on the Delhi Traffic Police Sentinel App and shared a link to the said app, encouraging people to report such offences.
While a decent amount of public display of affection is acceptable while ensuring to read the room, this kind of stunt is blatant stupidity. It’s not only unsafe for the couple involved but also for the public. Nuisance would be an understatement. How can people indulge in such reckless behaviour in public, especially on a busy road? These people deserve to get their license cancelled for a solid period of time!
When called out, a lot of such couples would defend themselves, saying, "If you don’t like, don’t look." However, when you’re driving and suddenly a monkey jumps in and starts dancing in the middle of the road, you do tend to get distracted, at least for a moment. No offence, but it’s just so distracting that it could possibly end up taking someone’s life.
This also raises the question of whether such scenes in movies are misleading people to try them out in real life. But then, as adults, shouldn’t people use a little bit of their brain before trying something like this? Don’t they have a bare minimum understanding that those scenes are performed with safety precautions?
Why don’t these couples have the bare minimum of social consciousness? Shouldn’t they think about how problematic this is not just for them but also for others? Or are they just obsessed with becoming the trend, making viral videos, and enjoying short-lived fame? Is this some sort of cheap and selfish thrill? It's high time people draw a line when exhibiting PDAs and following social media trends!
