On July 6, 45-year-old Sanjeev Kumar was travelling from the market to his home on a bike with his wife Geeta and son when he was shot and killed. Kumar’s wife, ex-wife, and his daughter were arrested for planning the murder and hiring a contract killer to execute the plan.
The death of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus driver Sanjeev Kumar was killed while riding his motorcycle with his wife Geeta and their son. Kumar was brought to the hospital following the accident and hospital authorities suspected it was a murder case and called the authorities.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Esha Pandey formed a team led by Govindpuri police station inspectors Jagdish Yadav and Manjeet to catch the killers.
Kumar’s wife Geeta became a suspect after she gave conflicting answers and tried to mislead the investigators by claiming DTC workers from the Kalkaji depot were threatening to kill Kumar.
The police checked Geeta’s phone and found that a picture of the license plate of Kumar’s bike in the deleted pictures folder. The image had been taken on July 5, sent to someone, and then deleted that same day.
Three Women Plot Murder
During the investigation, Geeta allegedly confessed to the crime. She said that her real name was Najma, and that her husband also had another wife who was also named Geeta. Najma and Kumar’s relationship was strained after she found out he was already married and had given her his first wife’s name after marrying her.
The two women and his 21-year-old daughter Komal plotted to kill Kumar. They planned to divide his property amongst themselves.
According to the police, the three women planned on killing Kumar as they held him responsible for “ruining their lives”.
DCP Pandey said, “His wife, Najma, was fed up with his cruel behaviour towards her, and his ex-wife Geeta, and her daughter Komal, also blamed him for allegedly ruining their lives. They planned to kill him and divide his property among themselves.”
Najma and Geeta got in touch and Komal gave Najma a cellphone so they could maintain contact. They conspired to kill Kumar and Najma contacted her cousin Iqbal, who arranged for the contract killer. They saved more for three years and gave the contract killer Nayum 15 lakh rupees.
