A 16-year-old girl in Delhi delivered a baby on the terrace of her building and abandoned her newborn in a garbage dump near her house in north Delhi's Burari, police said on Wednesday. The teen survivor told police that she was scared to inform her mother about this. The baby was recovered wrapped in a cloth from the same area after police received a PCR call on October 31. The girl alleged that she was raped by a 60-year-old man about eight to nine months ago.
Police also checked CCTV footage of the area and said, "We received information on Saturday night regarding the infant. Police reached the spot and rushed the baby to a hospital. When we checked the CCTV footage of the area, the baby was found with a girl," a senior police officer was quoted by NDTV.
The officials on the case have also tracked down the girl now. She was scared to tell anyone and dumped the baby boy to ensure that nobody finds out about her pregnancy, the police said. So she reportedly covered the infant with a cloth after the delivery and put the baby near a garbage dump far from her house and left the spot, a police officer said, Times Now reported.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, the girl revealed that her parents were unaware of her pregnancy, rape or even the circumstances under which she delivered her child.
She has accused a 60-year-old man, who lives in the neighbourhood, of raping her nine months ago. An officer privy to the case revealed, "We spoke to the girl’s mother, who works as a domestic help, and asked if she knew about the rape and the pregnancy. The mother told us that she had noticed some changes in her daughter’s body and even asked her about it. But the girl never told her about the rape or her pregnancy."
A case of rape and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered under various sections. Police have arrested the accused man, who owns a shopkeeper, on November 1 and was sent to jail.
