Delhi schools for class 10 and 12 reopen on January 18, announced the Delhi government on Wednesday. The government has allowed the students to go back to campus for pre-board preparations and practical assignments. The students will only be called to schools if their parents are on-board with it and they are supposed to take all COVID-19 precautions.
This will be the first time in the last 10 months that students in the capital city go back to school after the schools shut down in March 2020.

The Directorate of Education (DoE) in a circular issued said, " “In order to conduct the activities pertaining to pre-board preparations and practical work, the head of government, aided and unaided recognised schools may call the students of classes 10 and 12 only to school with effect from January 18, 2021."
"However, the child should be called to school only with the consent of parents, following the enclosed standard operating procedure. Further, while the records of children coming to school be maintained, the same should not be used for attendance purposes as sending the child to school is completely optional for parents,” the circular added.
The circular also stated that the schools in containment zones are not open and the students, teachers or staff members are living in such zones are not to attend schools. No physical outdoor activities or assembly is to be held. The school principals have told to ask children not to share their copies, books or nay stationary items among themselves.
Earlier the education ministry had announced the dates of practical examinations for students giving Central Board of Secondary Education board examination that is to be held from March 1 written tests will commence from May 3 and June 10 for class 10th and 12th. The pre-board examinations for class 10 will be held between April 1 and April 15 and class 12 students will take the pre-board between March 3 and April 15, as the report state.
The DoE has also asked schools to assist students by providing emotional and trauma support as they will return to campus after a long gap. The students are to maintain a social distance of sex feet along with other measures to protect themselves from COVID-19 infections.
