Delhi Police recently rewarded two women for showing courage and tackling the snatchers who tried to attack them, in two different situations, in Shahdara area of East Delhi.
In one of the incidents, 29-year-old Ranjana had gone to Punjab National Bank on April 6 when a man approached her and tried to snatch a bundle of Rs 100 notes from her hands. She had gone to the bank with her mother to withdraw Rs 30,000.
"After collecting the money from the bank, my mother and I stood on the side and were counting it when a man approached us and stated that the bundle of Rs 100 notes could be fake. As I kept two of the bundles in the bag the man tried to snatch the money in the hand," she said in her complaint, DNA reported.

The second case is of 36-year-old Rinki who was going to the metro station on an e-rickshaw. She was talking on her phone when two men on motorcycles started following her rickshaw. They tried to snatch her phone and that’s when, Rinki pulled down the pillion rider, which led the bike to lose balance and both riders fell down. She later informed the police and they identified the accused as Sheikh Rojab and Idrish and arrested them.
"The accused persons have a previous criminal record. Both the women showed great presence of mind and courage to fight back the attackers. I appeal to the general public to also come forward and help if anyone is trying to fight back attackers," said Nupur Prasad, DCP, Shahdara.
