The minister shared pictures on Twitter in which he was seen celebrating the news with the teachers by cutting a cake. He wrote, "Really proud of our teachers who are excelling and leading in every field."

The two teachers going for the training are Dr Neeta Verma and Neeru Lohiya. As per their bios on social media, they are mentors of Science and English.

The Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program is sponsored by the US Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The program was named in honour of Senator J William Fulbright of America.

The program aims at promoting mutual understanding among the people of America and other countries. Over a hundred secondary school teachers from all around the world will get training during a six-week program.

In July this year, Manish Sisodia had announced that 13 Delhi government school teachers have been selected for Fulbright Fellowship. He said, "It is noteworthy that 13 teachers of Delhi Government schools have received the prestigious Fulbright fellowship. I congratulate all of them and send my regards."

It was also announced that over 800 teachers from Delhi have been trained in the English language during a training program organised by the Directorate of Education, Regional English Language Office (RELO) and the US Embassy. The program is named TESOL Certification Programme (TCCP) and was launched in 2017. After the COVID-19 induced lockdown was imposed in the country, the teachers reportedly continued training virtually.
