Delhi Cook Rapes, Tortures Friend For 7 Days; Burns Her With Hot Dal

A woman from Darjeeling, West Bengal, was allegedly raped and assaulted by a friend in Delhi. The accused not only physically thrashed and tortured her, but also poured hot dal over her causing severe burn injuries. The Delhi police have arrested the 28-year-old accused. 

A case against the accused for rape, sodomy, and causing hurt has been registered by the Delhi police. As per the reports, the accused was a friend of the survivor who met him over the phone and had known him for 3-4 months. The two had been living together in the rented apartment in South Delhi for a month finding a job for the survivor before the assault began.

Man Rapes, Tortures Woman For 7 Days

The shocking case came to light on January 30 when the Neb Serai police station received a PCR call about a woman being beaten up by her husband in the area, prompting a police investigation into the matter.

Following the phone call leads, a team of police officers immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the woman rushing her to AIIMS in Delhi. As per the reports, the woman had around 20 injury marks on her body at the time of her hospitalisation after being rescued. The woman shared her ordeal with the police detailing her whereabouts from Darjeeling. She shared that she met the accused over the phone and befriended him three to four months back. 

She then shared how she was supposed to reach Bengaluru in the first week of January as she got a job as a housemaid. However, as she had her train for Bengaluru via Delhi, she decided to meet the accused, who allegedly asked her not to go for her job and stay with him in Delhi, promising her to find a job. 

Over the accused man's assurance to help her find a job in Delhi, she decided to stay and the two were living in a rented apartment near Raju Park in the Neb Serai area of South Delhi. 

However, as the days passed, the accused man soon started physically assaulting and sexually abusing her for over a week before she was rescued. The accused allegedly beat her up and raped her, while recalling one instant, the woman shared that he even poured hot dal (lentils) over her which caused her burning injuries. 

Delhi Police registered an FIR based on the complaint of the survivor on January 30, booking the accused under IPC Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 376 (Rape), and 377 (Sodomy) while the accused was arrested on February 2. 

The man identified as Paras (28) worked as a cook in an eatery in Delhi and hailed from Uttrakhand. The Delhi police are conducting further probe into the matter.
