The anti-corruption bureau raided the offices of the Delhi Commission for Women on Thursday and charged its chief Swati Maliwal with nepotism and favouritism in the appointment of employees.
The raid was carried out after Barkha Shukla Singh, a former chief of the DCW, filed the complaint.
Singh alleged that Aam Aadmi Party leader Maliwal has been appointing members of her party people to “plum jobs” and not following the standard procedure of recruiting panellists. In her complaint, Singh named 85 new recruits who were appointed to positions in the DCW while lacking essential credentials. These appointees are paid from a government funds.
“Swati Maliwal must be dismissed for making 85 appointments with hefty remuneration in the commission in an unauthorised and illegal manner that has caused heavy recurring burden on government exchequer," said Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta, reported The Statesman.
According to Gupta, the posts for these 85 people were specially created to please the aides of AAP leaders. All the appointees are AAP workers or related to AAP leaders, he said.

A DCW official denied the charges. He told SheThePeople.TV: “A complaint had been filed against the DCW alleging favouritism in appointments. This is rubbish. Our mode of recruitment has been crystal clear. We showed the ACB team all the files and registers. This controversy is just meant to create a negative image of Swati Maliwal.”
The official added: “Out of the 85 names that Singh has listed, 42 were hired in her time. The people working here during her tenure had not even shown their degree certificates. Only when Swati joined the panel did we do all the paperwork. You can come and check the degrees and work experience of every person working at our offices.”
