Dayalan Hemalatha is a professional cricketer for the Indian women's team and is noted for her superb cover drive on the domestic circuit.
She is a conventional right-handed batsman and a cunning right-arm off-break bowler. She was born on 29 September 1994. She now represents Railways in domestic cricket after formerly representing South Zone and Tamil Nadu.
Dayalan Hemalatha's career before WPL 2023
She was selected for the India Women's Women's One Day International (WODI) team to face England Women in a series in March 2018, although she did not take the field. On September 11 against Sri Lanka, she played her first World One Day International.
In October 2018 for the West Indies leg of the ICC Women's World Twenty20 competition, she was added to India's roster. On November 9, 2018, she played in her first Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) match against New Zealand.
She was drawn to cricket as a young child because of her love despite receiving little support from her family. Hemalatha made her debut for Tamil Nadu in 2011 and was selected by the South Zone three years later following a streak of outstanding performances.
Before getting called up to the India A side, Hemalatha played domestic cricket for more than three years. A year later, she realised her ambition of playing for the Women in Blue. On September 11th, 2018, the Chennai native played in her first international match against Sri Lanka. She settled down and began releasing a variety of powerful strokes as India choked at 142 for 4 when she stepped out to bat. She seemed to belong at the international level based on her 31-ball 35.
She was selected for the India Women's team for the 2018 ICC T20 Women's World Cup as a result of an outstanding maiden season. She established herself as a formidable all-rounder by taking three wickets for just 26 runs in the opening group game against New Zealand.
Hemalatha recovered in the limited-overs series against South Africa in March 2021 after losing her spot in the T20 World Cup team in 2020 because of her inconsistency. The Tamil Nadu cricketer was chosen for the series' penultimate game but once again failed to impress the selectors as she was dismissed for just two runs and only managed to pick up one wicket in a humiliating loss to the Proteas.
The Gujarat Giants selected her at the auction for the first Women's Premier League (WPL) for Rs 30 Lakhs. The Adani Gujarat Giants' roster includes some of the most significant players in the league, including Ashleigh Gardner, Beth Mooney, Deandra Dottin, and Sophia Dunkley. As the season progresses, Hemalatha is eager to be around them and learn from them.
