Datia gangrape case: In Madhya Pradesh, a 21-year-old student, out to enrol at a college in Indergarh, was abducted from outside her college and allegedly gangraped by three men. The woman came forward to file a complaint about the alleged crime only after being counselled by her family to take legal action.
On October 1, the woman came to Indergarh in Datia district with her brother to take admission at a college. After completing the formalities she was standing near the college gate when the three accused- Ratan, Pinky and Kalla took hold of her and forced her into their white coloured car. The survived alleged that the accused took her to Dabra- a place 30 kilometres from the said college, and locked her inside a room. The three accused then allegedly took turns to rape her and kept her locked for the next 24 hours, as per a report by the Free Press Journal.
The accused then dropped the girl at Indergarh's Kodar Sarkar temple the next day and fled. Assistant superintendent of police Kamal Maurya told India Today that one of the accused was known to the girl. Upon return on October 2, when the woman's family began to suspect that something was wrong, they coerced her to talk following which she revealed her ordeal.
The survivor then approached the police with her family to file an official complaint against the accused. She further accused the three men of snatching away her phone and of threatening to kill her if she spoke to anyone about the incident. A team has been constituted by the police to nab the suspects.
Earlier this months, a deaf and mute 14-year-old girl from MP's Shahdol area was allegedly gangraped by six accused, four of whom were minors. The incident came to light when the accused began circulating images and videos of the incident which found their way to the girl's father. An FIR was filed, based on the survivor's complaint, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection Of Children against Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). All of the six accused men were arrested by the police. Read more about the incident here.
