In Darbhanga, Bihar, a trainee woman sub-inspector (SI) ended her life. She reportedly shot herself with her service gun when she was in her house, as per officials.
As per reports, the woman lived close to the Lon Thursday night in Darbhanga, officials said. She shot herself with her service revolver at her residence which is close to the Lalit Narayan Mithila University police station, where she was posted. The trainee sub-inspector was 27-year-old.

Darbhanga Police Trainee Suicide:
Ashok Prasad, city Superintendent of Police (SP) said that the trainee was posted at the University police station and she shot herself with the service revolver. The woman used to stay with another trainee sub-inspector Arti Kumari who had been away on duty at the time of the incident.
The woman belonged to the Children's Park locality of Supaul and was unmarried. The senior police officers remembered a "cheerful and friendly" person and express shock over her death. According to the reports, the City Superintendent had rushed to the deceased trainee's house after hearing about the incident and said that she had left from duty around 10:30 pm on Thursday.

Her flatmate, SI Arti Kumari, soon left for night patrolling duty. When Kumaru returned on Friday morning and knocked the door but deceased woman's did not open the door. Arti Kumar reportedly peeped through the window and saw her lying in the pool of blood in the kitchen.
As per reports, the reason behind her suicide has not been revealed. The forensic team from Muzaffarpur was rushed to the spot for the investigation. The deceased trainee's family members also did not know the reason behind the drastic step taken by her. Her body has been sent for post mortem.
As per a report of 2019, more than 930 police personnel have committed suicide in the five years before 2019. The major cause highlighted in surveys was stress.
