Woman Stripped Over Refusal To Revoke Daughter's Sexual Assault Case

A 20-year-old Dalit man was allegedly beaten to death and his 49-year-old mother was stripped after they refused to withdraw a sexual harassment complaint lodged by the victim’s sister, in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh, police said on Saturday. The case was filed in 2019. 

The accused vandalised their home and allegedly threatened the sister of the victim to revoke the ongoing court case against them giving her rape threats.  adding that all nine of the accused have been arrested 

Dalit Woman Stripped Naked, Son Killed By Mob:

The accused victim, an 18-year-old Dalit teen Nitin Ahirwar was thrashed by the mob as he refused to revoke the case lodged by his sister in 2019. The mob also thrashed his mother and stripped her naked while vandalising their house and harassing their relatives as well. 

The incident took place late on Thursday in Barodia Naunagir village of Sagar district.

According to the victim's sister, the accused Komal Singh, Vikram Singh, and Azad Singh came to their house persuading them to revoke the sexual harassment case, when their mother refused they threatened them and started vandalising their house. They then left the house and met Nitin at a bus stop at the corner of the house and started beating him brutally, when their mother reached the spot to intervene they thrashed their mother and stripped her naked on the bus stand. 

The victim's sister also said that when she requested the mob pleading to spare mercy on her family the accused threatened to rape her before she ran into the jungle and called the police.   

According to the police, key accused Vikram Singh (28) and eight members of his family members have been forcing the victim and his family to withdraw a sexual harassment case his sister lodged against Singh in 2019.

“Vikram Singh was booked for sexually harassing the victim’s sister in 2019 and has since been pressuring them to withdraw the case. On Thursday, Singh had an altercation with the victim at his home, which soon escalated. The prime accused later called his family members who joined him in assaulting the victim and his mother,” additional superintendent of police (Sagar), Lokesh Sinha, said.

The mother of the victim described that the mob thrashed her son so much that he couldn't survive as she said "Hume beparda kar diya" (I was stripped naked). She described how later the cops arrived and she was handed a towel and she stood there in a single piece of towel before a saree was brought to her. 

The mother weepingly described how her whole house was wrecked as the mob ransacked and vandalised their household and nothing was left intact. She also said the mob then went to find her two other sons in another house. 

One of the victim's aunts said that a mob forcefully barged into their house as well threatened her and her family by killing her husband and two sons. 

In 2019, the victim's sister filed a case against four men accusing them of sexually harassing her, beating her, and threatening her. All four were arrested in the case that was ongoing in the court. 

The police have arrested eight accused including the main suspect Vikram Singh Thakur, while some of the accused including the village's head, Komal Singh along with 3-4 unidentified persons are still at large while police teams are searching to nab them. 

According to SP Sanjeev Uike, a murder case has been filed against nine accused under section 307 after the victim was declared dead in the hospital, section 302, and the stringent Scheduled Tribe/Scheduled Caste Act.
