RK Singh also informed us that the accused constable is a native of Jhansi and was posted in Agra as he was living in a rented accommodation in Belanganj, while the accused and the victim knew each other from the past.
According to the victim's family, the two had undergone nursing training together in Jhansi, where they met each other and have been in contact since then. The woman's brother also said that their family visited Raghvendra's family with the proposal of marriage between the two, which they declined. However, Raghvendra was still in touch with his sister.
The police had registered an FIR on the complaint lodged by the victim's brother and had arrested the accused constable on Sunday.
The police also speculated that the deceased girl visited the apartment of the constable a day before the incident and was working in a kidney centre in Gurugram.
ACP RK Singh also said that on the day of the incident, Raghvendra had visited his office but left early and later informed his colleagues about the incident.
The incident highlights the dire need to bring attention to and take strict action against the horrific issue of sexual assault and police brutality, particularly against marginalized communities like Dalit women in India, and take necessary actions to safeguard the marginalised community and their rights.
