Another incident of gang rape reported from Lucknow amid mounting rage against the rapes in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras and Balrampur district. Reportedly, the incident took place in August and a police complaint was filed only on Friday, Oct 2nd, after outrage over the Hathras gang rape case.
A Dalit woman was allegedly raped by a man who meet the girl on the pretext of giving her a job. When she arrived to meet the man at his house, she noticed more men there and they took turns to rape her. This news report says she was raped many times over a week as the men kept her captive for many days.
The rape survivor went to Gudamba police station in Lucknow to lodge a complaint on September 3 but her complaint was not lodged. Once Hathras and Balrampur rape cases made headlines, the police hurried to take not of this case which they had allegedly evaded so far.
DCP North Zone Shalini said, “The victim later gave a complaint in my office after which a case was immediately registered. Police have arrested two accused so far and the matter is under investigation. The woman has alleged rape, further action is being taken,” she said.
