Berlin International Film Festival or Berlinale is all set to commence in February 2023. The festival will be special for Indian cinema as it would be the first time that an Indian web series will be premiered at the festival which is going to be Dahaad.
Starring Sonakshi Sinha, Gulshan Devaiah, Vijay Varma and Sohum Shah in pivotal roles, this slow-burn crime drama is produced by Reema Kagti, Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. Made under the direction of Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi, the show will reportedly be premiering at the Berlinale International Film Festival 2023. With this, the series will become the first ever Indian web series to do so.

Dahaad Premiere At Berlinale
Berlin International Film Festival or Berlinale brings together many renowned filmmakers and actors from international cinema together to celebrate artistic exploration in cinema. The 2023 edition of the festival will be held from February 16 to February 26. Premiering at the festival under the Berlinale Series Competition category is Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti's Dahaad. Sharing the news on Instagram, Zoya Akhtar wrote, "Dahaad’s roar echoes through the #Berlinale as it becomes the first Indian webseries to premiere at the festival!" Actor Vijay Verma also shared the news on his social media account as he captioned, "We starting 2023 with a glorious news! #Dahaad ’s roar echoes through the #Berlinale as it becomes the first Indian webseries to premiere at the festival." Varma was hugely praised for his 2022 release Darlings featuring Alia Bhatt and Shefali Shah, his character Hamza was considered to be one of the best performances of the year.
Reema Kagti is known for making Made In Heaven, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara, Talaash and Gully Boy. Among these Gully Boy premiered at Berlinale in 2019. She and Zoya Akhtar made Dahaad under their independent production banner Tiger Baby which is also helming the Indian adaptation of Archies.
Dahaad is set in the backdrop of Rajasthan and follows an underdog female sub-inspector Anjali Bhaati (Sonakshi Sinha) who is posted at a local police station. She and her team have to unravel a mysterious case of multiple death incidents of females in public washrooms. Initially considered a case of suicide, Bhaati soon realises that these are serial killings and that she must find the killer who is among the common public before they harm another woman. The cat-and-mouse chase between the killer and the police will also determine Bhaati's own future and the future of several other women in the town.
