Who is Rohiqa Chagla?
Chagla and Mistry married in 1992 and remained married until his sudden demise. Rohiqa Chagla has been a corporate icon herself and held directorship at some private and public limited companies. The Mistry family empire - comprising mainly of real estate and its shareholding in the Tata Group- has collectively developed magnificent hotels, stadiums, palaces, and factories throughout Asia. Cyrus Mistry shot to fame after he was named the scion to lead the Tata Group but later this position triggered one of the most talked about corporate rivalries in the country.
Rohiqa Chagla’s father is barrister Iqbal Chagla, and her grandfather was M.C. Chagla, a jurist and former cabinet minister. Her family had gotten legally involved in the boardroom battle between her husband Mistry and the Tatas. In 2012, Cyrus Mistry was appointed chairman of Tata Sons. His surprise resignation in 2016 sparked a dramatic, years-long litigation and boardroom struggle between two of India's most illustrious corporate families, the Mistrys and Tatas.
