The accolades are not stopping for Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu. Having been conferred the Khel Ratna award recently, she now will be bestowed the honorary rank of Commandant. Then country's largest paramilitary force CRPF has proposed appointing the ace badminton player as its brand ambassador and offered her the honorary rank of Commandant.

As perIndia Today, official sources have confirmed that a formal proposal has been presented to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), and the ministry has given a quick nod as well for the same. However, President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi need to sanction this proposal, and once that happens, Sindhu will be honoured and presented the rank badges and camouflage combat fatigues of the CRPF at a ceremonial event. Sources said to have taken confirmation from Sindhu as well, as per Indian Express.

A Commandant rank in the CRPF is equivalent to the position of a Superintendent of Police (SP) and such an officer commands a battalion of about 1,000 personnel, when posted in field operations. The CRPF is a 3-lakh personnel strong force, the mainstay for anti-Naxal operations and various internal security tasks in the country. Sindhu’s duties would be to gather motivational sessions with troops when she is not playing or practicing and her messages would be sent to all the personnel deployed across the country. While the Central Reserve Police Force accelerated the first all-women battalion in a central paramilitary or a police force way back in 1987, Sindhu's appointment would no doubt send a strong message of women empowerment with the forces as well as in the country in general.
