You might debate her acting shops, but there is no denying the fact that Sonam Kapoor is a style diva. And this year at Cannes, fresh off the critical acclaim for her gutsy performance in Neerja, the fashionista looked as resplendent as ever on the red carpet. Over the years, her style has been dynamic- from ruffles and dresses to capes, collars and epaulettes. Her carefully chosen outfits increasingly reflect her growing confidence and grace.
This year, she stunned us in sheer white, with a gown that extended into a cape and was complemented by a cloth choker. The piece by British designers Ralph and Russo gave her a dramatic yet powerful look. The silver work on the dress coupled with golden lines running over the eyelids, broke an age-old fashion rule-that gold and silver together are a strict no-no. Not many can carry off the look, but the 'masakali' did so with effortless grace.
Even her electric blue and black sari by Indian designer Rimzin Dadu was way more elegant than the saris that she has worn in the past, or maybe it was just the way she draped it (like a pro!). In any case, fabulous is an understatement for this look which was enhanced by her minimal jewellery.
And whoever said that prints on prints are not cool, need to take a look at Sonam's ensemble by Anamika Khanna. The plunging neckline along with those collars add a kind of chic hotness to the look. Kind of 'look, don't dare to stare.' With daring fashion choices like these, little wonder that Sonam rarely crosses paths with the fashion police. A big thumbs up for the 2016 Cannes stunner!
