The striking images have been circulated on social media and are winning hearts. The priests are said to have welcomed and even helped Imrana do the job while she was on a day-long fast during the ongoing month of Ramzan.

Key Takeaways:

  • The priest welcomes a woman in a Burqa who helps sanitise temple, mosques and gurdwaras.
  • Imrana Saifi is a mother of three and does not fail to do her duty with the sanitiser tank provided by the local residential welfare association.
  • In late February, the 32-year-old had also made arrangements to help people affected by the violence over the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

She requested permission to spray the disinfectant inside and outside the temples in a north Delhi neighbourhood. The priests of the temple had no hesitation in allowing her. She is now being celebrated as a corona warrior with three other women from the area who are working amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

According to reports, Imrana has studied till the seventh grade. This is not the first time she came forward to lend a helping hand. In late February, the 32-year-old had also made arrangements to help people affected by the violence over the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Now, Imrana walks through the narrow lanes of the north Delhi neighbourhood where mosques and the temples are lined up in almost every corner. "I want to uphold the secular culture of India. I want to send a message that we are all one and we will stay together," Imrana said, NDTV reported.

According to Imrana, she has never faced any problems either from temple priests or from locals.  "We aren't stopped by the temple priest or anyone else and we haven't faced any difficulty as of now," she added.

Every day, she visits religious places of worship such as the Nav Durga temple in Nehru Nagar to sanitise the buildings, NDTV reported.

The priest of Nehru Vihar's Nav Durga Mandir of Nehru Vihar, Pandit Yogesh Krishna told NDTV, "Such steps are welcome for communal harmony and we must support each other. We must discard hatred and adopt love and be the each other's well-wishers."

Imrana's husband Niyamat Ali works as a plumber. The couple from North Delhi work very hard to make their ends meet. While the nationwide lockdown has impacted their work-lives, Imrana has made community service a mission. She takes up responsibilities  to do a good deed in the locality while taking care of her family at home.
