Crime against women is on an alarming rise in India. Every passing day brings a new shocking case that makes us question where we, as a society, are leading to. Another troubling case was recently reported from Uttar Pradesh where a woman was allegedly gang-raped by two police officers.

Police are the authority that the common public looks up to whenever they suffer injustice. An example of this was reported recently from UP where two police officers, brothers in relation, not only allegedly gang-raped a woman multiple times but also forced her to abort the child she conceived after rape twice. Here's everything to know about the shocking case.

UP Cop Brothers Rape Woman: 10 Things To Know

1. A 26-year-old woman accused a police constable in Pilibhit, UP and his elder brother, also a police officer posted in Shamli, UP, of keeping her confined and gang-raping her for days.
2. The brothers, named Imran Mirza and Furqan not only allegedly raped her multiple times but also allegedly forced her to abort twice when she conceived.
3. The woman reportedly met Imran Mirza in March 2021 on Facebook. The two got into a relationship and Imran promised to marry her.
4. The two got into a physical relationship on the pretext of marriage and would often meet in different hotels where he raped her.
5. Later, he moved her to a rented flat in Shamli where his brother Furqan raped her. In her complaint, she claimed Imran forced her to abort her pregnancy two times during that time.
6. When the woman tried to confront the brothers regarding their behaviour towards her, they allegedly physically assaulted her and threatened to kill her if she filed a case.
7. She was scared and remained quiet for two years. She allegedly confronted them again and on being beaten up brutally by their hands, she decided to take legal action.
8. She filed a rape case against the brothers and they are reportedly threatening her to withdraw the case.
9. Meanwhile, Pilibhit's Superintendent of Police said that they will be taking necessary actions against the police officers if they are found guilty of the charges.
10. Pilibhit's Superintendent of Police also said that Imran was on leave from the past few days. He was supposed to rejoin work on May 3 but he did not. The police are currently investigating the case.
