Constitution Day 2021: 26 November is observed as Constitution Day or National Law Day every year in India. It is the same day when India adopted the country's constitution in 1949. It was in 2015 when Government of India declared November 26 as Constitution Day.

10 Things To Know About The Constitution of India
- The onus of drafting the constitution of India was given to a committee whose head was Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar. Dr Rajendra Prasad was the President of the constituent assembly. He also became the first President of India later.
- Dr Ambedkar completed the draft of Indian Constitution by 1948. It was then presented to the assembly which made some amendments.
- The Constitution was finally adopted on November 26, 1949 and was enforced on January 26, 1950.
- As per the Preamble of the constitution of India, our country is a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic and aims to secure justice, liberty, equality to all citizens and promote fraternity to maintain unity and integrity of the nation.
- The English version of Indian Constitution is one of the longest handwritten documents with 1,17,360 words. It was written in Hindi also.
- Some of the features of the Constitution of India have been borrowed from 10 other countries which include Britain, Ireland, Japan, USA, South Africa, Germany Australia and Canada.
- The original hand-written copies are preserved in helium-filled cases in the Library of Parliament House.
- It has been only once that the preamble of the Indian Constitution has been amended. This happened in 1976 during emergency.
- The original copies of the handwritten Constitution were signed by all 284 members of the Constituent Assembly, which included 15 women.
- Prem Behari Narain Raizada was the man who wrote the original constitution with beautiful calligraphy in a flowing italic style.
