Rajasthan: Congress MLA Son, 2 Others Booked For Gangrape of Minor

Congress MLA Johri Lal Meena Son Booked: Three persons, including a Congress MLA’s son, have been booked for gang-raping a minor girl in Rajasthan. The case was registered with Mandwar Police in the Dausa district of Rajasthan. Reports state that the incident allegedly happened in 2021 but was reported recently based on which a complaint was filed on March 25.

The girl’s family, who reported to police, have alleged that the minor was raped by the three accused including MLA’s son in a hotel room and that they had recorded the heinous crime they perpetrated. The family also alleged that the girl was being threatened by them and that the accused tried to extort money from her; reports suggest that they intended to extort Rs 15 lakhs and jewellery from the survivor.

Reportedly, the police told the media that the incident happened in February 2021 when the girl was in grade 10. The minor got in touch with Vivek Sharma, an accused and Congress MLA Johri Lal Meena’s son Deepak’s friend, through social media. On February 24, 2021, Deepak, Vivek, Netram allegedly gang-raped the minor in a hotel in the Mandwar police station area.

Allegedly, the main accused Vivek made a video when they were sexually assaulting the minor girl and had been blackmailing her for a year. The minor recently confided in her parents about the incident who then went to the Mandawar police and registered a case against the accused, as per reports.

The SHO, Nathu Lal Meena, was quoted saying that the accused had drugged the minor and raped her in Samleti. The five accused have been booked for gang-raping under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The officer added that the probe is underway.

However, the Congress MLA has denied his son’s involvement citing that he is being implicated in a false case and it is a politically motivated case. The MLA told media on March 26, Saturday, “The rape case registered against my son is fake, baseless and a political conspiracy after seeing my popularity. These people had filed an FIR against me earlier and it was later discovered that the case was fake; this is a new conspiracy."
