🚩I’m an Olympic champion - and this is WRONG.
🚩The culture of #AthleteAbuse is on full display here, out in the open, and the athlete accepts it - it’s normalized.
🚩The serious harms that flow from abuse don’t go away if the athlete wins.

Isn't this violence against females? Must be!

Absolutely rubbish. What are we teaching to young adults? That it's okay to raise your hand and embarrass people on national tv? https://t.co/Ysc6N4qctS

How can this be called coaching ? This is abuse not coaching. Period . https://t.co/gYyEsz1VLB

Seems like abuse but the athlete has gone public (on Instagram) saying it's her chosen pre-competition ritual which her coach merely followed. In a lighter vein, this is sort of the Monday morning booster many of us need! 🤣 https://t.co/zkRsMYSo9q

Martyna lost the match but later took to Instagram later to explain what had happened. She said that it was a ritual which she chose pre competition. "My coach is just doing what I want him to do to fire me up!” she said
Taking Martyna's side, a twitter user also commented, "She's doing judo. If a coach did that before soccer or swimming or some other non-contact sport sure, but this is prepping the body for intense physical collision and contact. Like running light tackle drills before a rugby match or half-speed checking drills in ice hockey."
