Earlier this week, the Delhi Police had begun their investigation on the Clubhouse chatroom case. The chatroom allegedly insulted and made obscene remarks on Muslim women. In connection with the case, an 18-year-old boy identified as Rahul Kapoor was summoned by the police from Uttar Pradesh.
Kapoor is being questioned for allegedly making obscene remarks during the Clubhouse chatroom conversation. In the chatroom, his user id was named Bismillah. Reportedly, the Delhi Police's Cyber Cell came to know this and have seized his mobile phone.
The Quint reported that an officer alleged that Kapoor had created the chatroom after being told to do so by another user called Sallos. After allegedly creating the room, he handed over the moderator access to Sallos. Kapoor's father is an accountant at a Lucknow school. Kapoor will be questioned for investigation on January 22.

After the Delhi Commission For Women had taken cognisance of the clubhouse chat room, Delhi police were asked to submit a detailed report. Post which they have filed a First Information Report (FIR) under sections 153 A (promoting enmity between groups on religious grounds), 295A (deliberate act), 354A (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
They have also sent a notice to Clubhouse on January 18, Tuesday demanding the audio-chat only application to share the details of the chatroom and the members, who participated in it.
Clubhouse Case:
On January 21, three people were arrested by the Mumbai Police in relation to the Clubhouse hate speech case. The names of the people arrested were Akash Suyal, who is 19-years-old; Jaishav Kakkar, who is 21-years-old and Yash Parashar, who is 22-years-old.
The Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Milind Bharambe said that one person was arrested from Karnal in Haryana, while the other two were picked from Faridabad. Their transit is reportedly in process.
The chat targeted Muslim women. It had surfaced on social media and immediately went viral. The conversation by the participants of the group 'MUSLIM GALS ARE MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN HINDU GALS' was vulgar and sexually charged.
Sharing the Delhi Commission for Women notice to Delhi Police, the Chairperson Swati Maliwal wrote on Twitter, "Sulli deals, Bulli bai and now indecent sexual remarks against Muslim girls on the Clubhouse app! How long will this last?"
